Old Dominion's Tursi releases debut, announces tour
The tour kicks off Oct. 3 at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta and wraps on Nov. 7 in Tucson, Ariz.. Tickets are on sale now
"I found my father's guitar in the attic when I was 13 and never put it down. That guitar set my life on a path that I am still walking today. My last 30 years have been spent playing lead guitar in bands, and I hope my next 30 will, too," said Tursi. "The brotherhood that is formed in a band is a true lifeline, a second family of sorts. And, with the blessing of that family, their little brother (me) offers 'Parallel Love.' I hope you come along for the journey and enjoy the music that came from it."
The disc is a collection of songs that have been written over the past 10 years. Created and released with the band's full support, the project features co-writes with Stephen Wilson Jr., Dan Isbell, Jessi Alexander, and Matt Jenkins. Tursi produced the entire project as well, with Ben West and Marc Scibilia co-producing select tracks.
In addition to his role with the reigning CMA and ACM Vocal Group of the Year, Tursi has earned multiple CMA Triple Play Awards for writing three number one songs in a 12-month period and co-written hits for Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Tyler Hubbard, Josh Turner, Darius Rucker and Cole Swindell

CD reviews
There are two ways to listen to Old Dominion's music. You can simply enjoy it for the feel, the lyrics, the beat...or you can study it as a master class in contemporary country songwriting and record production. Either way you're in for a treat, especially on this eight-song EP "Memory Lane." Hooks, harmonies, rhythms and feel-good images are everywhere here.

Old Dominion has gained a following on the heels of two albums of lively material. Their self-titled third release stays the course and delivers a dozen radio-friendly songs. The hyper positive lead single "Make it Sweet" sets the stage with an ode to the brighter side of everything. Most tracks are upbeat but, ironically, there is not an official party anthem or even a drinking song. The closest they get is "American Style," which is laden with standard innocent imagery ...
Right off the bat, the title of Old Dominion's album "Happy Endings" is far better than "Meat and Candy," its prior effort. ("Meat" in an album title? Really?) But also on an artistic level, OD's follow-up shows signs of growth.
With that said, though, there's nothing on this new release as immediately catchy as "Snapback." Nevertheless, the vocal-only harmonies introducing "Not Everything's About You," are a beautiful thing. ...
