Hurd signs with Big Machine

Monday, October 21, 2024 – Ryan Hurd signed to Big Machine Records, it was announced today.

Hurd will release the song "This Party Sucks" on Friday. The track follows independently-released tracks "Midwest Rock & Roll" and "Go To Bed Sober" earlier this year. A full-length project is expected via Big Machine Records in 2025.

"I am incredibly excited to have a fresh start with everyone at Big Machine," said Hurd, 37. "Having worked with the publishing team the past few years and seeing first-hand the care that this company has taken with my songs just makes me even more excited about this album coming out with this label. Thank you to Scott... and the entire team for believing in this project."

"Ryan has been part of our extended Big Machine family for quite some time as he's been a significant writer and contributor to our publishing company, Big Machine Music," said Big Machine Label Group Chairman & CEO Scott Borchetta. "Adding his recorded artistry to the Big Machine Records roster is truly an honor."

Hurd released one album, "Pelago," in 2021 and four EPs on Sony Music before splitting with the label. His biggest solo hit was "To a T" in 2021, which made it into the top 20. Hurd's biggest overall hit was "Chasin' After you," which went top five. He recorded the song with Maren Morris. The two were married from 2018 until January of this year.

Hurd also has enjoyed success as a songwriter, penning material for Blake Shelton, Jordan Davis, Luke Bryan, Lady A and Diplo/Morgan Wallen, in addition to writing for artists like Conner Smith and BRELAND.

CD review - EOM EP Ryan Hurd may well end up being the biggest musical thing out of Kalamazoo, Mich. (does anyone remember The Verve Pipe?) without anybody's help. So far, he's carved out a mild hit for himself ("To a T") and secured a deal with a big label who have high hopes. Hurd's sizzle factor grew exponentially when he married country superstar Maren Morris in 2018. The idea of this almost-an-album (seven tracks) is - mostly -- a slower take on songs that Hurd had some hand in writing. ...
