Nelson + POTR go on hiatus

Tuesday, June 4, 2024 – Lukas Nelson + Promise of the Real are going on hiatus, the group announced on Monday.

"After 15 unforgettable years, Promise of the Real has decided to take a well-earned hiatus, and begin a new creative chapter in all of our lives," the band said via X.

"We continue to love playing together, and we intend to work together again in the future, both individually and as a group. For now, you can see the band out on the summer 2024 dates."

"Thanks to all the Realers for your endless support. You're the best fans in the world. We love you, and we'll see you down the road."

The band formed in 2008 and consists of Nelson (lead vocals, songwriter, acoustic and electric guitars, piano), Anthony LoGerfo (drums, percussion), Corey McCormick (bass guitar, upright bass, vocals), Logan Metz (keyboards, lap steel, piano, banjo, harmonica, vocals), and Tato Melgar (percussion).

They have released eight studio albums. two live albums, numerous singles and extended plays.

Nelson +POTR were the backing band for Neil Young and recorded four albums and a film soundtrack with Young.

The group's last album was "Sticks and Stones," which came out in July 2023.

CD review - Sticks and Stones Is the fact that Lukas Nelson has a famous father (Willie Nelson) a blessing or a curse? One might well wonder if this is somehow the case because he deserves so much more attention than he gets. Listening to "Sticks and Stones" offers plenty of new evidence that Lukas inherited great songwriting skills from his dad. It's one of his best efforts to date, too. CD review - A Few Stars Apart With songs written during lockdown and recorded during the worldwide pandemic, much of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real's "A Few Stars Apart" deals with human connections and survival. The vocal resemblance of frontman Nelson to his father, Willie, is inescapable on many tracks, particularly with the opening "We'll Be Alright," which projects optimism in troubled times ("And we can hold on/Through struggle and strife/Despite all the darkness/We'll be alright"). ...
