Nelson covers Adele - with some help

Friday, September 13, 2024 – Lukas Nelson joined forces with The Travelin' McCourys and Sierra Ferrell for a new bluegrass-tinged version of Adele's "Someone Like You," out today.

The rendition came together organically while Nelson and The Travelin' McCourys were rehearsing for their DelFest performance earlier this year. They will once again share the stage next Saturday at Farm Aid in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Nelson said, "Adele to me is on the top echelon of singers and musicians in our generation. And with Sierra, I just love her voice. It's the most incredible feeling when I hear it and I respect her musicianship so much and who she is as a person. And then The McCourys are just incredible. We just played it one time and then within an hour they had it down. Being with these guys brings out the best in me."

Nelson has released eight studio albums including 2023's "Sticks and Stones."

Tour dates are:
Sept. 20 — Port Chester, NY—The Capitol Theater*
Sept. 21 — Saratoga Springs, NY—Farm Aid
Sept. 28-29 — Franklin, TN—Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival+
Oct. 24-25 — Denver, CO—Life Is A Carnival: Last Waltz Tour '24

CD review - Sticks and Stones Is the fact that Lukas Nelson has a famous father (Willie Nelson) a blessing or a curse? One might well wonder if this is somehow the case because he deserves so much more attention than he gets. Listening to "Sticks and Stones" offers plenty of new evidence that Lukas inherited great songwriting skills from his dad. It's one of his best efforts to date, too. The title track is a rather serious response to any and all that might judge Nelson and attempt to hurt him with mere words. ...
CD review - A Few Stars Apart With songs written during lockdown and recorded during the worldwide pandemic, much of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real's "A Few Stars Apart" deals with human connections and survival. The vocal resemblance of frontman Nelson to his father, Willie, is inescapable on many tracks, particularly with the opening "We'll Be Alright," which projects optimism in troubled times ("And we can hold on/Through struggle and strife/Despite all the darkness/We'll be alright"). ...
